Saturday was a big day! We got Makayla's ears pierced. It was a very emotional moment for me. Many people had told me to wait until they were older and we could make a big moment out of it. Like take her to get some really nice earrings and celebrate. There are other things I would like to make a bigger deal about than getting her ears pierced. (like her true love waits ring or something) Anyways, I wanted to get them done when she was three months because that is when I got mine done. I don't remember the pain, the crying, the cleaning, never got infections, and never had to get the pierced again. So, we went for it. Allen wasn't too excited about someone sticking a needle inside his princess' ears, but we will never had to do it again, hopefully! We got to Claire's and I was holding Makayla to get the dot on her ears. She is such a giggle worm that the girl had trouble getting it in the right place and she would get the marker everywhere BUT her ear! haha She finally got it right, so we were ready to go for it. I wasn't. I told her to stop because I figured out I wasn't going to be able to hold her. So my mom (her nini) held her. I turned my back and plugged my ears, I heard the crying and then I started crying! It was a horrible moment for about 10 seconds. Then I fed her and she was perfectly fine. Now its over and we never have to go through that again. She looks so beautiful, of course she does without them, but I just love earrings on babies. Now we can go find some really pretty earrings for her when she is done wearing the ones she has to wear for six weeks. :)
Well here in Mexico people think you're cruel if you don't do it in about the first month. Everyone kept asking me when we were going to pierce her ears. I got my ears pierced at 7 years old and know it wasn't too bad, but everyone said in the first month the ears are so soft they don't feel anything, but that later it would really hurt. I just learned to say that from experience it doesn't really hurt later on and my husband and I want to wait so she can learn to take care of them herself anyways. Just one of the many culture things that come up with a baby here!
